Livestrong Challenge 2009

Please support me in my efforts to raise $2,500 for the Lance Armstrong Foundation in the coming months. If you’re in Austin next October 25 to cheer me on when I cross the finish line that’s all the better!

Thank you all so much for your support over the last few years as I’ve fought my personal battles to become a healthier and happier person. I owe each and every one of you a lot for your unique contributions of support along my journey.

As most of you know, bicycling has become an important aspect of my weekly routine. Through my involvement and interest in cycling, I discovered the Fat Cyclist (http://www.fatcyclist.com) last year. Elden Nelson has shared an amazing and personal journey with his readers through his blog as his wife continues an epic battle against cancer.

Late last month, Elden put out the call. Team Fat Cyclist will be the biggest team, raise the most money, and generally be a force to be reckoned with in the 2009 LIVESTRONG Challenge. So I’ve heeded the call.

Amanda’s dad is engaged in a battle with cancer. Cancer claimed my dad nine months ago on March 1st. Three out of four families in the US will be faced with caring for a family member with cancer. Organizations like the Lance Armstrong Foundation work to make that a somewhat less daunting task.

Thank you in advance for your support. Together, we can make a difference in the fight against cancer.
