So... is that a mole of Beaker or a beaker of mole?

Things I’ll need in my science classroom

This certainly breaks a fundamental rule of procrastination, but I’ve been slowly compiling a list of things that my science classroom will need. Science must be (or at least become) fun for the kids, and there are certainly opportunities in physics to make it fun. That aside, it never hurts to have adorable mascots along for the ride, even if they are a bit more chemistry than physics. Perhaps its just...

Anniversary tradition

Amanda pointed out as we turned down the driveway this evening that tomorrow marks sixteen years. 16. One six. Seems like just yesterday we walked down the aisle, got all emotional in front of our friends, and had a good laugh when the minister nearly forgot to tell us to kiss. And what better way to finish off the day than knocking loose the fuel pump relay in my truck, thereby...

Carrot cake 1

Carrot cake

We make a carrot cake most years for our anniversary. This year we’re trying this one, since it matches the one we used to use but can’t find. 🙂

Cup of tea

The funny thing with tea…

Thank heavens for microwaves, as they’ve saved many a cup of tea from the horrid state known as room temperature, but why is it never possible to enjoy the last sip of tea from the bottom of the cup before it gets cold? Milk Bread (rolls)

Simple, yet satisfying, this tender bread stays great for days without turning stale. Add a touch extra butter in the mix or when prepping for fantastic rolls.

Stash Vanilla Chai Decaf Tea

This is what happens when…

By the time you reach forty, there are a few things that really need to be done your way. Somehow in the nature of my rearing, I developed a fondness for tea. Frequently, my tea of choice is Earl Grey or Irish Breakfast, but more often I’ve found myself enjoying Vanilla Chai or some variant thereof. This was all fine and dandy until my body decided a couple years ago that caffeine just...

Thanksgiving violation

I get it. The holiday season is upon us, and consumerism is going to swallow us whole. I am as guilty as anyone for enjoying the hunt of shopping. But seriously, I am disillusioned by the developments of this year. Many of the big retailers are having huge sales on Thanksgiving day. I find this abhorrent for both those who have to man the cash registers and those who would spend...
